Having been with this practice prior to its inception, i.e. when it used to be at the Cottage Inn, people of a certain age will remember this, I have found it has degenerated from one of the best practices in the area to the worst. I have tried for over a week to get an appointment by phone and each day after trying for between 30 - 60+ minutes when you eventually get through to speak to a rude and totally unhelpful, uncaring receptionist you are met with the bog standard reply that all appointments are fully booked for the day. In the past you could make an appointment for 3-4 weeks in advance but alas, that option is no longer available, no you are now met with “due to staff shortages we can only offer appointments on the day by phone” and by the time you get through there are none left. You then repeat the same process day after day after day and eventually through frustration you go to the surgery and join the queue for it opening and being second in the queue when you speak to the receptionist are told no appointments are available. Seriously you couldn't write this, doors open at 0810 and no appointments available!!!! Best they could do was to offer an appointment to see a triage nurse who would assess and then possibly refer to see a doctor when? No one knows. I have had the benefit of 60+ years of great service from the surgery until now being seen by various doctors over the term mostly with doctors Mackay and Gillespie who were gentlemen but the surgery has now spiralled into a new depth of despair where even the last remaining stalwart of the old guard, Dr Burt I believe is now gearing up for retirement. The practice, in my humble opinion is now so downtrodden having changed beyond recognition to a shadow of its former self that I reluctantly have now taken the decision to leave and register with another practice. I shall miss the place that I have been with for so many years but, in truth as I get older and my health declines I want to be able to see a doctor when I need one and not have the frustration and couldn't care attitude of a once great service which has declined to the point it should be closed. Patients deserve a far better service than this practice, if you can call it that, provides.

Tried to phone for an appointment from 0755, I used 2 phones and I didn’t get through to someone till 0822 to be told there’s no more appointments! I work different shifts a lot as i work for an airline which means that I can only do certain times of the day on different days but also struggle to try and phone on that day to get an appointment if I’m working on an early shift. I was very unhappy with the receptionist who told me she couldn’t give out an appointment for another day and that I would need to phone up on that day. I told her this was not possible due to my working shifts. I have recently moved house and got put to this surgery by the NHS and I have to say my first experience of this surgery isn’t good. My old surgery was very accommodating with me and my shifts and helped in anyway they could. Maybe you need to look at that all patients have a different work life and not just mon-fri jobs from 9-5

I have been a patient with this surgery for over 30yrs and was with Dr Gerald Gillespie. Always found Dr Gillespie approachable, professional and understanding. He would listen and help with any problem,no matter how small or large. If I was unable to see Dr Gillespie then often saw Dr Paton who was just as good. Not often at the surgery but always clean and I have never had an issue. My only complaint ( and it is a small One) would be the waiting area. I do not like the rows of chairs and feel the old way where the chairs were in a circle Was much better & was much more inviting!!

I would just like to thank the receptionists and my family doctor, Dr. Burt. I remember the receptionists used to be rather rude and unhelpful, but recently the service has improved massively and that makes the whole experience of going to a doctor much more tolerable. Dr. Burt is by far the most thorough and caring doctor at this surgery, he really listens and it is obvious he wants the best for you as a person and a patient - so thank you.

I am 43 and been with this surgery all my life. And to put it lightly, they have made my life a nightmare. These people do not listen, and very arogant and rude in The manner they talk to people. It is as quickly as they can get you out the door. If this surgery were a builders, there is no question these so called doctors would be on some kind of dodgy builder program. Please put review and help others, unlike what this surgery doing.
